Pixel Cactus

Inspired by contemporary jewellery, hydraulic tiles and videogames, Pixel Cactus exudes a 1970’s vibe without a hint of nostalgia. Its palette is reminiscent of a desert in bloom after the rains and the taste of prickly pears in a hot summer day.

I designed Pixel Cactus originally in 2017/18 and recoloured it just recently. I didn’t release it back then for a couple of reasons like trying to find my “style”, “themes” and other nonsense. However somehow, some prints are just like wine and need to peacefully age before we fall in love with them again.

When I designed these patterns, I though about using them for two distinct ends: at small scale for chiffon and crepe fabrics, both for apparel and accessories and at a larger scale for encaustic tiles.
